Foreign Subsistence for Ltd Company

    Hello all,
    i have just set up a Limited Company,
    i will be working in Nigeria,
    will i be able to claim foreign subsistence expenses while i am there,
    i personally will not be covering meals and accommodation, company who hired me will, do i need to show receipts, evidence from my personal account to claim foreign subsistence
    any info would be appreciated

    Yes there is an overseas subsistence rate which is greater than the domestic overnight one. It isn't clearly described on the Revenue website however, ring them up and confirm the amount and requirements etc (it's e190/overnight unvouched I believe). You do need evidence that you were actually overseas, but plane tickets are ok for this I was told.

    Note that it gives rates for domestic subsistence but not overseas (which are more). Am assuming same rules apply aside from rate.

    You need to get onto the revenue as it varies from country to country as to how it is dealt with ie standard rate or vouched expenses etc.

    Oops yes, depends on country. The figure I gave (e190) was for the UK (not sure if that includes NI).

    many thanks for your reply,
    i have the rates for the country i am working in,
    it is more in relation to showing proof of receipts, the uk company i am hired
    through pays all the flights, hotels, food etc. wondering if i can still claim overnight rate
