    Hi lads,

Posting on behalf of my da.

    His 01 Saab 93 won't start.

It recently failed the NCT on dirty/contaminated brake fluid and worn wishbones/ wb bushes.

    117,000 miles on the clock.

    Always serviced regularly.

So the car has been parked up for at least a week. He turned the engine on the other day and everything seemed fine, didn't drive it though.

However, yesterday he turned the key and it won't start up at all. Shouldn't be the battery as it started up the other day no prob.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Apologies if this is a complete noob post/too general, I'm a learner driver and haven't a clue about cars to be honest.

    Any tips apreciated.

My guess is that its one of two things. Either its the fuel pump (known weak point on these cars ) so it'll turn over but it wont fire or the throttle body has gone into limp home mode. If any lights such as the traction control light and EML are staying on then its the latter.

If it won't even make a sound, connect it to another car battery for 10 mins to give it enough juice to try to start.

Cheers lads. May be the fuel pump as that went two years ago.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Did you try jumpstart it? Battery is the most obvious cause, better rule that out first before trying your next step.

In SAABs of that era it's most likely one of these:

    1. Fuel pump
    2. crankshaft position sensor
    3. direct ignition cassette

All three can fail without prior warning. All these will result in car cranking fine but not firing.
