Hi all fairly new at this but no daw so please accept apologies for anything stupid have decided to update whole sky setup fed up with frozen screens and the like have sky+hd in main room and multiroom hd box in another recently fitted Triax tsc114 in bedroom. All were working fine but two days ago got the no signal found on the multi room box did all the usual but no luck finally tracked to faulty output on lnb. Just got a kick ass lnb Inverto Black Octo Pro and I need to Know will this be ok on Sky Dish (got adaptor ) or should I upgrade dish as well would prefer not to as it is hard to get at.

You're better off using Sky lnbs with their dishes, as the feed is matched to the eliptical shape of the dish.

The Inverto might work ok, but you will only get the most out of it with a "round" dish.

    Thanks,
Took your advice and am now ready to install new dish with lnb will 60cm do the job or should i go all out for 80cm. I am probably going to stick with sky for the moment as the kids are giving out to much about lack of cartoon channels on the triax tsc114. Found problem with cable that caused no signal replaced and now all working fine. Have decided to replace all wiring from rg6 to ct125 but just noticed all the f-connectors screw type are too small and won't fit, is there a special type for ct125. I really seem to come across a different problem at every corner however i will continue in the hopes of some day being free of sky.

If I was replacing a Sky zone 2 dish, I'd go with an 80cm. Not really any need to use 125 cable except for very long runs; something like WF100 would be a step up from a lot of 'RG6' types.

So it was just a cable problem? Anyhow, if you're set on replacing all, I'd be inclined to agree with Peter above, about using an 80cm dish. Also think "125" cable is overkill for the average domestic install.

If the original problem was caused by corrosion, you can greatly reduce the future risk by filling the F plug with silicone grease.

Available from plumbers merchants and other suppliers.

Twist-on F plugs are available for WF125 cable:

I expect Dave can supply these, although I can't see them listed.
