hi I was in car accident when i was 7 months pregnant . after the accident i had some problems my head was paining me , puking , leg pains and now migraines. Thanks GOD my baby is fine .Now the insurance company is giving me settlement 7 000 . is it good . I still have pains in my leg but x-ray show nothing and migraines .

If you accept this now and experience more issues down the line there will be no come back.

It is up to you if you feel this covers your trauma/injuries, if you do not think it does maybe seek legal advice. Some citizens advice centres have a solicitor that sits for free and can offer advice.

Have you sought legal advice? You need it. Did you go through PIAB?

Are you saying you have counsel and the insurance company contacted you directly? You must tell your solicitor about this asap. Why would you have to accept the offer without her knowing? This is very suspect.

Most unusual for the Insurance Co to contact you directly when you have a solicitor, speak to your solicitor straight away and tell them of the offer, they are the only ones in a position to advise you if it represents a good settlement or not.

Most definitely DON'T take the 7000.
7000 is a very shocking pity amount, for the seriousness of your accident.

IMO and from previous experiences, your accident is worth double of not triple the amount been offered to you.

The insurance company is trying to pull a fast one, cause I say they are well aware that your accident is worth a lot.

It can be a long process going through solicitors, PIAB, insurance companies etc, but it will be worth it in the long run. Just sit tight and let your solicitor do the necessary work.

I would be extremely cautious about suggesting that this claim is worth 3 or 4 times what was offered without personally having seen medical reports.

However, in principle, the insurance company should be dealing with your solicitor presuming your solicitor issued the application to the Injuries Board. The fact that they have come straight to you is very unusual.

You would be well advised to speak with your solicitor before deciding to accept or refuse the offer that has been made. Bear in mind, this is an offer that has come through early and insurance companies do not offer early settlements unless they feel that they could be exposed for a greater amount...

I could only agree with the sentiment shared by others... speak with your solicitor.

At the end of the day do you think the insurance company are contacting you directly to give you more than you're entitled to? Of course not, they are trying to get out of it as cheaply as possible.

Will you get 3/4 times more.... its impossible to know without seeing medical reports etc. which I would advise that YOU DO NOT make public knowledge. Your solicitor would be in the best position to estimate value.

Also the fact that your symptoms have not alleviated I would do nothing yet.

Speaking personally I had a medico legal report done up a few months after my accident. The consultant expected some of my injuries to completely heal fine with a defined time period. They didn't. 18 months later I've had two surgeries and will have issues life long. If I'd been in a rush I wouldn't get a fair settlement.

+1 to the above, most properly conducted settlements wont take place until recovery is either complete or the victim's condition will improve no further so as to allow for a full assessment of damages.
