Kia Ceed is light years ahead of that model Lancer in every department.

You would want to be doing a lot of miles per year to justify having a diesel

Whys that now, it being a 1.6 diesel ceed and all that. How many miles do you reckon he'd have to do to justify it?

Dunno, don't diesels have problems with something DMF or somethin?

Ah now don't be like that! He has a point and it's been said here by a lot people a lot of times that a diesel is a false economy unless you are doing a lot of miles. Even at that they usually turn out to be more expensive due to things like DPF's and DMF's etc.

There's the danger of taking it too far though, they have a dpf alright but they don't give trouble in that respect. Unless the op is doing tiny mileage I wouldn't worry, you don't need to do massive mileage to justify buying a used ceed that's 4 or 5 years old and pretty much the same price as a petrol one,

It's cool to tell people not to buy diesel nowadays now that everyone wants them, but let's not get carried away

Good point but I wasn't telling anyone not to buy a diesel ;)

    Citroen C5 estate.

Big, roomy and frugal with the 1.6 PSA diesel. Plus top quality comfort.

I don't see why your ruling out French cars. Like the above poster says, the C5 is a nice car with lots of space.

i have worked for citreon dealers over the years. i am well versed on the potential issues that come with french cars - plus they are generally horrible to look at and have a brake pedal like on on/off switch

i'll stick with my asian/jap cars thanks

looks are marmite but the ride comfort alone is lovely, brakes... who needs them really ? oh right... erm... gentle is key, i would only fret over the hydro-dynamic-moneysucking-suspension systhem that citreons use bar that the stanard model is a decent work horse, my uncle has a generic blue model and well, 170k on the clock, suspensions only died twice plus usual maintenceance. Whats not to love ?
