Women are up first, from 12.30, then men from 14.15. Parcours is flat as a pancake, 125m total gain over 44km for the men (29km for the women). McCann is off at 14:25:30 (90sec intervals).

Hard to see beyond Wiggins for the men, considering his TdF performances. Martin and Cancellara have both had recent injuries (Cancellara's only on Sunday). Phinney could push past them to grab a medal.

Yep, Wiggins ftw. Phinney to place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,063 ✭✭✭on_the_nickel

Bit of value e/w (1/3 odds) with Froome at 17s, Phinney at 23/1 given Canc and Martin's recent travails lately.

    No, he's a sprinter.

How was the order of the start list determined?

yes, so wouldn't he be suited for a time trial??

No, he's only very, very, *very* fast over very short distances - hundreds of metres. This TT is 44km.

We actually he's not too bad a TT'er particularly on flattish courses, but GB have 2 places and Wiggins and Froome are much better than Cav at this discipline (as is Millar)

    FMP... is that a first?

How was the order of the start list determined?

"With the riders seeded according to ranking and expected performance, both riders will have the faster competitors ahead of them, making the prospect of one rider catching another relatively unlikely - pending mechanical incidents and crashes - in the later stages."
    http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/12543/Olympic-Time-Trial-start-times-and-numbers-announced.aspx#ixzz22FDEYTVf

Could see potential for Wiggins, Phinney, Froome on the podium.

cancellara should get the gold just for being hard enough to race with a broken everything. he would've won the road race too if it wasn't for those pesky kids making the road slippy.

How come Mc cann is in this? Would one of Martin or Roche not have a better shot? Excuse the ignorance, I'm just learning.

Nope, McCann is 6 times national TT champ, while Martin is a pure climber and Roche would be expected to lose at least 2-3mins to the favorites over 40km.

Really hoping there's an upset here. Phinney or Pinotti

Team GB seem to be choking given the occasion, such expectation. Brad will be very good but I think (hope) there'll be surprise. Tony might deliver the goods and if 100% fit and is IMO the No. 1 TT'er in the world. Fabian will give it absolutely everything, he was bawling when he crossed the line on Saturday and fortunately nothing broken from his fall.

What about Westra for a possible medal? had a bad tour but put in a good performance in the time trials at Paris-Nice

What's the story with Cancellara? What damage did he do on Saturday, or has he released details?

"The pain in the shoulder is almost gone and Fabian is under treatment in order to be at 100 per cent tomorrow," said Guercilena.

Men's race - would really love to see Cancellara win though he is really up against it, would be delighted with Phinney also - been following him on Twitter for some time and he seems like a really sound individual.

Women's race - Reckon Emma Pooley is in with a great chance. As a matter of interest did we (Ireland) have anyone close to qualifying for this, or how is it determined?

By the way I was in Hampton Court on the way down to Box Hill at the weekend - I think it should look spectacular on TV.

    I hope Cancellera destroys Wiggins.

Is there any TV channel showing the TT start to finish?

No interest in having them cut in and out to give you updates on how things are going over in the shooting range etc -.-

Wouldn't surprise me if RTE cut to men's kayaking (K1), Eoin Rheinisch is in the semi-final at 13.30.

And Arndt has just overtaken Vos in the women's TT. Guess Vos has her gold already, who cares about the TT? :)

I'm just watching what ever they have on RTE 2 on the player, hoping they will switch to the TT at 2:30.

Why can you select different Sports to watch?

I'm at work, so hoping to just flick back to it for the times over the next hour, either that or just use the leaderboard on the London2012 site.

Maybe try and update your version of Adobe Flash for the RTE player/Eurovision Sports?

i fear this will be a formality and wiggo will win comfortably again, bbc must have played their wiggo interview/promo piece about 10 times now in the last couple of days, then again they were giving cav the same hyped build-up and we all saw what happened there, i can't see them being denied their glorious script twice though

i hope it is competitive - is it a vain hope though?
