    Hi,

I'm looking to get a basic enough road bike for small money. I want to use it for around the city and the odd spin further afield. I have looked up online and there are plenty of bikes around for small money and I'd like to get a reliable decent bike. On ebay and viking cycles I've seen great deals on lovely looking alloy frame bikes, approx. €250-€400 delivered, which would suit as I can't really spend any more than that.

    Would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

    Woody

For that money I would look at Carrera bikes in Halfords, or a second hand Trek, Giant etc on here or Adverts.ie.

Have a look at the B'Twin Triban 3 from Decatleon - about €400 delivered from their Belfast store.

There is a thread about the bike here with details of a recent positive review: www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056656062

Stay away from ebay and the likes of viking, teman, barracuda, coyote, etc. They're all shite.

Halfords or decathalon if you're going for something new at that price point. Personally I'd be more tempted by something second-hand.
