Treadmill repair (motor cuts out straight away)

Hi I have a proform 390-p, All works fine until I turn on the speed, - the motor turns for a second then cuts out. I'm pretty sure it's the motor controller board at fault but can't be sure.
I've tested the motor itself with a cordless drill battery (the motor is DC) and it seems to work fine.
Can't really check the input into the motor because it is a dc step voltage (on, off, on, off) and won't register on my multimeter.

I've tried changing out a few of the components on the controller board (Main capacitor, power transistors)
    No change.

Try asking in one of the Home and Garden Forums.

Like Electrical, Home Appliances or DIY maybe, may have more luck there than here.

    Moved to DIY.
I think this may be a better place for this query op.

I would guess its actually magnets on the side of the roller at the front of the treadmill. If the treadmill kicks and then stops it could be that the motor starts but can't regulate as it can't determine the speed it should be spinning at.

I've fixed a few and this often seems to be a problem. There is also a capacitor which can go, but depending on the model it can also be one of a few other components.

Can you post some pictures of the treadmill motor, and circult boards and I'll see if I can give a little more accurate info.

Is there any power going to the treadmill at all? Are there lights coming on on the control panel when you turn it on?

If not, it could be something as simple as a fuse in the blue, or could be the main circuit board. An electrician would have a look for you, but tbh you would probably be better with someone who fixes TVs for example as they would tend to work with components a little more... (of course an electrician could be perfectly suited too!)

Hi there, yes the light comes on, on the control panel, its just when you try to press the buton to start the treadmill and increase the rise, nothing works:rolleyes:
