Bought a giant tcr composite 3 and i'm not a happy camper. You'd think they would have put 105 all round on the bike insted of the mismatch of fsa, tiagra and 105. I had to order 105 brakes aswell as they dont come standard. thats not the main problem as i did understand that before purchase.
Finally after 6 weeks of waiting for the bike to arrive ??????? i took her out for a ten mile spin to make the normal adjustments. Great i thought i can go and do the 100k ferns charity spin with some of the lads. The cycle started well and we were all in great form until the fifth mile when i heard a snap and thought i had broken the chain until i look back to see the back derailer had gone up threw the wheel and was stock in the frame.
Never buying giant again, 8 weeks waiting with no bike and the giant guy question the guys in the shop as if to say it was my fault.

So why the complaints? A mix of groupset components is very common.

Mix of parts is common, as mentioned, I certainly wouldn't go out and waste money on a new set of calipers...you would see more difference swapping out the pads.

Looks like your limit screws were off and the rear mech got sucked into the back wheel. I'm surprised they removed the pie plate to be honest, a Giant would come out of the box with one and it's not a bad thing to have but it points to the mechanic not setting the bike up correctly.

Expensive as you will need a new mech, hanger and repair to whatever damage was done to the back wheel.

Shop is more than likely responsible here but difficult to prove. Hanger could just have easily been damaged when bike was put into the boot of a car, knocked over, etc.

Not Giant's fault at all, they make excellent bikes, this one rests on the shop.

Only reason your RD would end up in the wheel is if 1: you crashed/ banged RD hanger and it then misaligned itself causing it to jump into wheel when in lowest sprocket 2: someone mis-adjusted your RD so that it was too close to wheel and on extra torque through standing on pedals the RD got thrown onto the wheel 3: you were messing with it and didn't adjust it correctly.

Mix of components is very common nowadays as all the big brands are trying to bring price down. I'm sure that's what comes as standard on a tcr3.

As for Giant and 'never again': they remodelled their business this year, cutting prices giving better value and better bikes. Im highly impressed by their ride quality this year....

You may be pleasantly surprised.. if they do replace it as you may get a 2013 model. All brands aim to sell all current stock by August of that year ....

But this remains to be seen if they would do that, given it doesn't seem as if it's a manufacturing problem....
