    Hello boarders,

I am currently doing a research about itinerants in Ireland and I am particularly interested in meeting itinerant shepherds, sheep shearers, or any other job involving animals and being on the road. Is this still current in Ireland?

As I am originally from France, I was not too sure where to start: I contacted Macra, the Irish Farmers Journal, the Irish Farmers Association a few Veterinary Associations... If you have met someone like this or know where I could find them, I would really appreciate your help! Thanks! :)

Hoof parers, calf dehorners and sheep shears and even heard of a traveling weighing scales/ service but all would return to a fixed abode most nights!

Failing that you'd be looking towards the travelling community but mostly horses/ponies there.. I've definitely seen no sheep or goats on the move although there is "a woman with an ass" on the move at the moment up the west coast but that's for a charity/cause

Have you tried Pavee Point? They'd probably be able to help.

Thanks you both for your replies: yes, I am in touch with Pavee Point who kindly accepted to help. But I would like to try every avenue possible and meet a range of different people!

Maybe I can include the workers you mention, Bodacious, as the nightly fixed abode is not an excluding factor... the most important is that the people are "on the road" all the time.

Will Google that "woman with an ass", as it sounds quirky... I'll keep the safe search on though! Where can I find the rest?

Go on Donedeal.ie and check out scanning services, shearer available, hoof pairing services etc... Explain carefully what you doing as boys would be reluctant to divulge information at first for various revenue and competition reasons
