my current mp3 player has a 22gb capacity. the lure of the classic with its 160gb is proving too hard to resist. however i dont want to use itunes or be forced into buying anything from anyone. if i use the ipod can i copy and paste music from my hard drive to the ipod and back again like i can with my current music device.

Do you have 160gb of music?! Just use iTunes, it handles copying music to iPods fine. Just don't use it for anything else if you don't want to

yeah that's whats great about it, you just import all your songs and use itunes to name them properly, download album artwork etc etc, then sync to your ipod, it's quick and easy.
