My g/f just bought a jap import Nissan March.

We didn't know that the radio was on a different band / steps etc.

Would something like this allow her to use her iPhone over the radio

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/180885030146?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I know it works on normal stereo's but because this is a Jap Import and doesn't have the same stations can it still be used. ?

    cheers.

Yeah he post 3500 times prior so he can now spam you for €8.

OP, jap radios are 76-90 MHz. so you need to make sure it broadcast between those.
Might be simpler to get a cheap new radio installed.

Anything that transmits between 76-90MHz ought to work just fine.

(And after 11 years, I highly doubt the OP is suddenly going to start spamming)

I just went out and bought a new radio from Halfords; the one I got has an aux input on the front for plugging in an mp3 player. Not worth the hassle messing about trying to convert Jap radios and those FM transmittors are awful quality. Its not expensive to get a decent radio.

Best to just replace the radio, it's annoying having the jap frequencies instead of normal ones, eg fm 104 might be on 87.7 or whatever, y have no rds function so you don't know what station it is, and you don't have the Af function so you have to manually retune when you change from one region to another, mwhich on a digital tuner is a right pain.

While I would normally put a new radio in as I use to work for Pioneer and know how good it is to have a nice radio.. She doesn't want to wreck the look or her dash ! It's her 1st car and she wants to keep it pretty lol.

In that case you could consider buying an FM transmitter but get a decent make like Monster or Gear4, the cheap ones are complete sh1te and only buy one that's powered from the cigarette lighter, batteries won't cut it.

That gadget you found on eBay has to be a fake iTrip model, note that the title is 'ipod iPhone iTrip FM transmitter'. iTrip is the brand that Apple sells on their official store. For €7.99 you will get a lot of heartache and probably a terrible signal. The people on boards who tell you that FM transmitters are crap are usually talking about the cheap ones that are sold on eBay. I have an old Monster FM transmitter and it's superb.

Bear in mind that newer iPhones will not accept a charge from devices like these unless they have the 'Made for iPhone' logo, another reason to avoid the cheap crap.
