Trying to gain weight - calories from liquid

I have a high metabolism and I struggle to put on weight and muscle, but I also struggle to eat the required amount of calories to put on weight and muscle.

Are all calories the same, no matter where they come from, whether they're from food or drinks?

Would a drink with say 500 calories be counted towards putting on weight? Im not saying "I'm not gonna eat XXXX that has 500cal, instead I'll drink XXXX for 500cal".

I'd eat whatever it is AND drink that because it doesn't make you feel full and it's easy, added calories. I'm not talking about drinking Coke or anything like that.

So, do liquid calories have an affect?

No, you pee them straight away :) - are you joking?

Of course they'll help you put on weight...

What do you weigh? How many kcals do you eat in a day? How many grams of protein did you eat yesterday?

    I weigh 77kg, I'm 6ft 3 so I'm long and skinny.

I usually get in around 3200 but I know I should be pushing for 3800-4000.

I normally only count calories but yesterday was actually the first day I counted carbs, fat and protein. Protein yesterday was 134g. I'm already on 124g today because i had 2 chicken fillets with 37g each.

I was in your boat until..

    100g oats
100g Natural peanut butter (€9 for 1kg tub in health shops)
    1 Large Banana
    25g Whey Protein
    500g Milk or Soy Milk
    4 Digestive Biscuits
    Ice

    AND Blend.

Looks like a tasty high calorie smoothie. Gonna have to try that, thanks.

Your tall and slim and struggle to put on weight, I'm guessing your an ectomorph. Adopt a seafood diet and eat all around you and also invest in a weight gainer , ON do a great one called super mass thats not full of sugar.

P.s 3200 cals is Pretty decent, my bulk macros is 3000/3500 and I'm also 77kg at 5"11 ecto/meso but if I wasn't bulking or maintaining I'd happily get by on 1500 kcals a day which is what I'm currently consuming on a cut. My appetite is terrible and metotablism sky high so supplements are fairly important for me.

I wish I had a small appetite so I could indulge in that stuff.

...but I am going on a 4 week cut ahead of a 12 week bulk. Hmmm.

I've had 2 of these smoothies so far, all you can taste is the peanut butter and a bit of banana. I felt stuffed for about 3 hours. It added up to a nice 1450kcal though

Glad you took my advice. Are you putting in the ice, i put about 100g ice in too.
Seriously though I put on 10kg in no time with this.
To me this was the perfect sollution as not only was it cheaper then mass gainers but more effective and tasted better.
I would not drink more than one on rest days and two on work out days though!

I had to try it when i saw the list of stuff in it. I put two big ice cubes in it, barely fits in to my blender after everything else.

I can see how it puts the weight on, hope to see some results after a while. Yeah I'll definintely stick with this instead of forking out €50 for a few servings of weight gainer.
