Slipping Up

Ok. So I'd made very good progress over the past 12 months. I'd lost just over 4 stone, and got my fitness level up to a decent level. Then I switched routines and started to focus more on weight training. Again, with good results. I looked more athletic, and I felt great.

    But...

I started to lose focus during my summer exams, and then completely lost focus when I was on holiday for two weeks. That was four weeks ago and I still haven't been able to get back on track. I'm only training sporadically. My fitness level is dropping, and I've put on a stone.

I'm a binge eater, and will consume 2000 calories in a single sitting if I get the chance. This had happened a couple of time over the past few weeks. Something similar happened around Xmas, and I quickly pulled myself together and refocused. But right now I'm struggling, and I'm getting worried. I feel like my old, fat, unfit self and it scares me.

I don't know what I'm looking for in terms of advice. I guess I just want to know if anyone's had a similar problem in the past, and what they done to tackle it .

    Thanks.

Everybody falls off the wagon at some stage man, don't sweat it. Having lost the amount of weight you have, it's safe to assume you know how to diet now. All you need to do is take it from the top, try fall back into your old routine, if you do slip up, don't let it snowball into worse and worse calorie choices.

Like you I have lost over 4 stone in the past 12 months, and over the summer I've gone on two holidays in which I absolutely indulged and ate/drank whatever I want. Upon returning home I was bloated and tired and found it a little difficult to get back into the swing of things, only advice I can give you is to just put your head down and get on with it. It will all seem like less of a chore once it becomes routine again, within a day or two.

Old habits die hard. Take the "next ball, next ball" approach. Can't do anything about the past, and it doesn't mean the meal after has to be bad too. Small steps!

Thanks for your replies. I'm actually feeling pretty motivated today. I guess getting it off my chest helped. Going for a light run tonight, then start back properly tomorrow. I done it once, and I can do it again!

    Hey,
I've been there. Lost nearly 50lbs up to the end of last summer, and then managed to put 30lbs back on up to May 2012. I think that I gorgot how much it meant to me to lose that weight, and became complacent. It might be a good idea to keep a photograph of yourself at your greatest weight, and in times of "crisis", have a look at it. It would remind you of where you were, how far you've come, and give you a kick to stay motivated.
