Can anyone recommend any Athletics Clubs in this region?
Was told about ALSAA but that’s about it?
Can anyone shed some light on this?

I believe a new club has just started up in Portmarnock. What area are you in?

I was beaten in a race yesterday by a guy in a Skerries singlet, so guess they must have a senior men's division. Actually am considering joining them myself.

I've been told that Skerries, like Balbriggen, Ruch and Lusk, is as good as non existant/dormant? Now this may not be the case so dont quote me on it. If you find any info on Skerries please let me know however. Would certainly be far more accesable than ALSAA or even Portmarnock.

Yes, Skerries have an athletics club. More for juniors and do quite well at middle distance, especially the young girls. In fact junior side is thriving with a long waiting list.

They do have a few seniors who train on Wednesday and Friday nights in Skerries (May & June do Wednesdays in ALSAA) and Sunday morning in Ardgillan.

They training is usually incorporated with the juniors (6.30 on Wed and 6.45/7 on Friday) and is mainly interval based e.g. I did one in ALSAA late June and it was 16*400 with the guys coming in around 65/70 secs per lap.

Most if not all of the guys on senior side are comfortably sub 40 min 10km runners (apart from me!!!)

Also fingal tri club have a session on Wednesday usually in Loughshinny/Skerries. And there is a good bunch of them in that area that also go out for regular runs.

You could also consider Star of the Sea. They're base in Stamullen / Gormanstown, about 10 minutes outside Balbriggan and seem to be quite active.

And have nice hoodies. Very important that.
