My sister has Toshiba Satellite C660 laptop which is broke atm. The hinges around the screen became loose and the screen was basically hanging off from the keyboard but the laptop was still working.

She rang a repair man who came out to the house and took the laptop away for inspection and he later said that new hinges for the laptop would cost €50 and €35 euro for himself which would cost a total of €85.

I thought this price was a bit dear but i'm no computer expert. What do yous think of this price?

50 for hinges sounds a bit steep . can pick em up on ebay for a 15' screen for 25 or less including shipping

If he was asking for the parts from Toshiba, they could well be charging more but 50 is quite hefty. Ask him if he couldn't get them cheaper as you have seen them for less than €20 on ebay. €35 for his time is fair enough though.

I think it's a very fair price in total as you got someone to call out to your house and presumably he will return the computer to you. He may also have to account to the revenue for this job (23%vat).

Why don't you get the hinges yourself from ebay and give him 35 for travel/diagnosing/fitting? Genuine parts from Tosh are much dearer than ones on ebay
