Merging Topics Which Shouldn't Be Merged

I'd like to raise the topic of a thread which has attempted to be started twice in the past 12 hours in the soccer forum.

One of Sligo's best players is now out for the season so someone deemed it newsworthy enough for a thread on it's own. However, a mod disagreed and merged it with a thread which had absolutely nothing to do with Sligo.

Why is it one rule for LOI Threads and another for the Premiership? It's ridiculous.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056710797&page=8

Both threads were merged into the last 50 pages of that post. I brought it up on the thread and it was just blatantly ignored as well.

Why should a thread like this: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056712607 have it's own thread but the LOI can't?

    Ridiculous.

Since a precedent has been set:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056712772

That thread should be instantly merged with the 2012 Europa League Thread.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056712814

That thread should be in the Republic of Ireland super thread.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056710041

That thread should also be in the Republic of Ireland super thread.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056710106

That thread should definitely be in the Serie A superthread or an AC Milan one. This one is the exact same story as Danny North but doesn't get merged.

Please consider contacting the mods. They have discussed these issues that pertain to thread mergers on their forum and should be quite informative.

I have and I am not happy with the response. If Wayne Rooney was out for the season there would be uproar in the forum if that thread was merged.

Please be advised that there has been no "uproar" on the Soccer forum over recent thread mergers. This Help Desk thread you started had been brought to the attention of the Soccer mods, and they feel that the mergers which occurred (or didn't occur), had been consistent with past practices, as well as to ensure the smooth flow of threads and posts on boards.ie's 2nd highest posting forum (over 1.7 million posts).

Although the decision to merge a thread was at the discretion of the Soccer moderators, they have provided me with extensive details and justifications for their actions, and these actions appear to be in the best interests of the vast majority of posters to the Soccer forum community.

This Sports Cmod review of your Help Desk OP has been completed. If you wish the Admin to review your Help Desk complaint, please ask for that now, or request that this thread be closed.
