Hi folks, a mate of mine was thinking of buying a mk4 1.4 golf petrol. I know that a lot of you here don't necessarily think they are the most reliable car and I myself included. I know there are a number of cases where belts break quite often and they are by far not the most economical. Was just wondering what are the pros and cons of these cars??

Pros are cheap tax. Thats about it really....

Cons: too many to list in such a short space of time

Summary: If your mate wants a petrol golf, get a 1.6 at the very least :)
