06 Passat Good Deal or Not?

What do you think - a high mileage 140,000 miles - 06 Passat for €6k asking price. In its favor - very good, clean condition. I've driven it extensively and very quiet, smooth on the motorway with body and interior in much better condition than average. On the other hand - that's a lot of miles!
I know the recent last two year service history as its been maintained by a local garage that I would trust.
That's about it - what do you think?

    Is it diesel or petrol?

Either way, I would've thought that price to be a bit on the high side.

I was thinking it was, but for a very well maintained diesel it's not as bad as for a petrol?

Sorry, should have said diesel. Do the miles not worry you? What would you say is a fair price?

1.9 or 2.0? And the mileage wouldn't worry me too much. I've a remapped 1.9 Octavia with 183,000 km, still on original clutch. No engine issues whatsoever. Then again, the oil was changed when it was due, and the car has been looked after.

The mileage would only worry me if you had no history of the car before the last two services.

I'd be looking to pay closer to €4,500.

    Edit: just changed my valuation.

The key words there are very well maintained.

It's impossible to give any kind of valuation without knowing the full details. Passat values vary massively depending on spec. A high mileage 06 baseline 1.9TDI in navy might be bought for €4500 but on the other hand €6000 would be a bargain for a 06 2.0TDI highline in a nice colour, even with that mileage.
