Looking to buy an 8speed rear mech as mine is kaput, just had a service and it looks like it took a knock at some stage, had to straighten the mech hanger and then when fiddling with it all the mechanic noticed the cage is bent. It's a pretty old piece of kit so it's just not worth constanly fiddling with.

Current mech is an 8 speed sora.

Looking for anything that would be compatable with an 8speed sora shifter really.

Anyone selling something for a decent price or even just have one laying around you want to get out of your way, let me know.

    Cheers.

Have a Sora 8 speed off a damaged Trek 1000 frame, Cork based though.

If it's of any help, you should be fine with any Shimano rear road derailer that is 8sp or higher. I replaced an old 2200 derailer on my gf's bike a while ago with a Tiagra 10sp and it's working just fine. The shifters are 2200. It was actually very easy to set up and adjust. Also, the manual states that the 10sp derailers are compatible with 8/9/10 speed STI shifters.

I still do have the 2200 if needed, the only thing about it is that the b-tension spring is gone on it. If the one on your Sora is allright then it might be used to fix it. I would give it away for free of course.

I think I might just buy one from Nigles Cycles in town here, wouldn't be great at indexing and phoned them to check price and they said €40 fitted for a sora mech so might just go with that as it would be handier for me!
