Scottish Catholic Bishop gives his 2c worth

The Catholic bishop of Glasgow made some insinuations about the health of a recently deceased Scottish MP, implying that given his gay lifestyle, it should be no surprise that he was dead.
First, is it any of his business? And, I wonder where compassion fits into all of this? Of course, one is talking about a high-ranking official of the Catholic hierarchy so I guess there ought to be no surprises...

What an ignorant and petty man.
Good to know the church has zero credibility these days so no harm done. Just looks like some dillusional old man that's bitching about not having any sway on society anymore to me.
Young people don't care to hear your bs stories old man.

As a LGBT person, you should know how it feels to be discriminated against, 1ZRed. Ageism is disgusting.

I'm 27. Many would say I have a perpensity for foolishness, which sometimes youth may bring. These kind of comments though often make me wonder and worry about our aging population currently in power. I would often get a belt as a young child for saying stupid things, that may lead to offence.

Why should a Catholic Bishop or any person in power be free from a slap on the wrist for making such rash comments into their 40s, 50s and 60s etc. As a leader in the Church in the UK, the man should have more sense and the forsight to understand that what he has said, would not only cause offence, but upset for the family involved.

The sooner people are held to account for verbal diorrea, the better. And you know it's bad when people nearly half your age call you out for being a fúcking moron.

The bish may be giving his unwanted and uncalled for 2 cents...

...but I couldn't give a fiddler's scutty fart as to what he has to say on the issue really.

Yes there was harm done. Clearly his remarks hurt the family of the man left behind. They mightn't bother you because you have no respect for the Church, but others do.

There are plenty of young people that care what the Church have to say.

Yeah but the thing is that since the man that died was a Catholic himself, and an former priest, the man's loved one's would naturally care when another Catholic clergyman comes out with hurtful ignorant comments like that.

Just another example of how those who profess christianity, lack it themselves. Must be hard for those Catholics who don't believe this way of thinking and try follow Christian teaching to hear there so called leaders come out with this!
