you may not have saved your work at the end

or there are 3 lists, sat , terestrial and all channels

    Hi Nowso

Im on "all channels" and saving them each time, I've even gone so far as move one channel at a time and save each change individually. I've done the list about 6/7 times now.

Its fine for a while, then when you going flicking through the channels to view them, the channel list is all mixed up again. I check the list and im still on All Channels.

Wondering should I do a factory reset, then try the usb upload again?

make sure you saving your changes after moving them

loading anything can br dangerous on these boxs lol

    I may have solved it.

Powered off the box at mains overnight. Moved channels individually and saved them each time. Worked fine until I deleted a channel, then the channel list was all mixed up again.

Now I have deleted unwanted channels first, then rearranged channels and saved them individually, and it seems to be working. Fingers crossed!

    Guys
Advice on the 150 thread is not to upgrade to this update. It seems to be bugged. Wait for next release

Why would you need to send your box away to be reflashed ?

Reflashing the box is done by USB. Re-covering the box from incorrect/bad flash is done with a €3 null modem cable and the free recovery sofware. The instructions are in this thread.

Recovery instructions for boxes temporarily bricked.

    1. Download the latest firmware. Extract the .abs file from this zipped file to somewhere obvious (desktop for example).

    2. Download the Erom Upgrade tool for the 250.

    Extract the files.

    3. Connect your PC from its serial port to the boxes R232 port using the Null modem cable. Make sure box is off at switch on back.

    4. Double click the ArivaUpgrader.exe file that was extracted. It will pull up a dialog box. Select the Com port - default is 1. Baud Rate should be 115200. Parity=Even. Operate Mode= Upgrade. Include bootloader should be ticked.

Pick the software you extracted as per No.1 above in the browse bar.

Click next. Turn box on. Box will reboot when the file gets to 100%.

A PC will have the Com Ports. You have a laptop okay, I see your problem.

Are you in Dublin ? Drop it into satworld.

If not put the files onto a usb stick and bring it to a pc repair shop and get them to do it from the flash stick or go into a internet shop and do it yourself :). Buy an old heap of junk for this purpose. I am sure you can find someone with a PC. The files loading program does not have to be installed.

I scanned eutelsat Transponder 11222H to download channel "loaded tv" but it didnt download. When this happened with my old stb I could enter the vpid and apid codes to download a channel instead of scanning the transponder. Is it not possible to enter vpid and apid codes with the 250?

Does not seem so as I just tried it and the editor program does not allow it either. A network scan might pick it up but the problem then is you will end up with lots of extra channels .

I'm pretty sure this channel only exists on the internet now, if at all. It's certainly gone from the Sky EPG.

Because of the messing going on with reallocation of channels you may find that the Channel title is 11222H SID Oxcb21 or the likes... rather than Loaded TV.

Its missing from 11222H here, http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php, seems that Lyngsat listings are out of date

Why do channels change frequencies anyway? Its a right PITA!

    Hi,

I'm a bit confused about the external hard drive for recordings etc.. I have read a post (don't ask me what page...) which said that a USB powered drive would do, but when looking at the PDF manual for the ariva 250 it says that *External hard disk drives should be autonomously powered, since the built-in USB port is unable to provide sufficient power*.

Is there someone who already has a 250 box could give me an advice on what drive to buy? :( (argos preferably, it's next door to me...) I'm looking for a 1TB drive if possible.

    Many thanks,

    Seb.

AFAIK most HDDs will work as long as it has its own power source. I had 2 HDDS before I bought the 250 and they both worked with it.One was installed in a media player, A Hitachi Deskstar 500gb, and the other came from an old laptop, I just bought a cheap IDE to USB adaptor on ebay for the one from the old laptop. I had a problem once when I had timed the 250 to record but had no power going to the HDD.The 250 powered up to record and failed and after that the 250 would not work with the HDD until I reflashed it. It may be cheaper to buy the HDD and enclosure seperately online rather than buying an Argos unit.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your replies.

HDD/IDE USB adaptor/IDE/enclosure seperately, all this is like chineese to me, I'm sorry but I really am not good in these computer stuffs (I'm learning, slowly but surely....).

What I understand in all this is that I should get an External Hard Drive which gets its electricity from the main with a normal plug and then connect it with a USB onto the box.

It may be cheaper to buy the HDD and enclosure seperately online rather than buying an Argos unit.

I'm willing to pay around €90 for a drive, could you recommend one on Argos which would suit without having to go the cheaper way and getting HDD (I just learned that this may be the hard drive :D ) and enclosure seperatly online?

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

    Seb.

Menu > Installation Menu > Scroll to "TP List" >

    Press green button to "add"

Put in the Freq, Symbol Rate and Polarity as per the webpage above for whatever channels you want to tune in.

    Save the TP (Transponder)

Then do a search of that transponder by pressing the blue button.

Channels on the transponder should now be on the "All Channels" list

Come back if your still stuck.

I have used several powered by USB devices with the Ariva 250 (despite what Ferguson say about powered supply).

One of them is a Toshiba 1 TB USB 3 Drive. Its plug n play. STG£48 on amazon with free delivery.
