I would have thought it was more difficult than this. Looks like they don't have the keys, but somehow they manage to get the car to unlock itself, you can see the indicators flash as it unlocks, but they still needed to push it away, so they couldn't start it.
Anyone know how this might be possible? So much for perceived security!

Possibly sliced the loom causing the doors to pop open. The same thing happened a neighbour on their ford transit over the weekend, the loom was sliced on the drivers side rear door of the van, he thought it was his battery low as the doors wouldn't lock/unlock, it wasn't untill I took a look at it and copped the loom clean sliced in half.

Nope, it was cloned keys from the OBD port, a number have sites have a decent investigation on this.
Is it a BMW flaw or a general multi-make flaw? How are cars not more secure?
So when they have the key code info from the OBD port, what next? Do 1M's need a key in an ignition or is it keyless and just a wireless transmitter needed by the scum?
Also, you'd think that the scum who are clever enough to clone a key would be clever enough to shine an IR lamp into the camera to blind it rather than let themselves be watched!

There'll always be a way to steal a car.

No matter what, if somebody wants your car then there will always be a way for them to get it.
