Is it ok to mix exercises?

Most evenings I usually do one thing or another, eg Monday - Weights, Tuesday Convict Conditioning, Wednesday - Boxing, Thursday - sledgehammer training and tractor tyre flipping, Friday - A.M. - Cross Fit, P.M. - kick boxing... Tonight I decided to mix it up a bit and combined a bit of crossfit with some weights, some sledgehammer training and Convict Conditioning. It was about 80 minutes but it was tough going, I could hardly lift my arms afterwards.

I reckon I'll be sore tomorrow, but what I was wondering (from the experts/personal trainers etc.) do you think it's worthwhile? Would I be better off sticking with one thing each day or would it do any harm to mix it up a bit like that?

    Cheers.

If your consistenly doing that volume with good entensity, eat well, rest\sleep well, work on mobility, listen to your body and you'll be OK.

you mentioned fixing stuff up in two way's:

Tonight I decided to mix it up a bit and combined a bit of crossfit with some weights, some sledgehammer training and Convict Conditioning.

This is fine and a good way to freshen you workouts, as above listen to your body.

    A.M. - Cross Fit, P.M. - kick boxing

This depends on what goes on in both classes: if you have a WOD with, trusters, pull ups, and double unders. Then you do similar body weight stuff in your kickboxing class, it could be a tough evening :)

Do you do anything weekends or do you rest? Seems like a recipe for overtraining & not 100% focused BUT if you're cyclying excercises well. i.e not repeating same movement patterns over & over you'll be able to handle it if you have your diet & sleep dialled in! I'd also throw in a rest day midweek & go 3 on 1 off, 2 on 1 off, that from personal experience though!

Edit:Above post beat me to most of it!

In fairness, it might not work that way EVERY Friday. If it has been a tough crossfit session, I'll skip the kickboxing. But the kickboxing tends to revolve around focus pads and sparring.

Thanks man. No my weekends are my own. I rest both days. I also don't stick rigidly to what I outlined above. Some weeks I might drop something or just do stuff on different days. Might have a rest day midweek as suggested as some weeks I can hardly move I'm so wrecked.

Just having a read of this again! Out of interest what's your main goal for your training??

Oh yeah, the 80 minutes wod type thing if you were going all out is a crazy amount of work ,how was the body the next day?!!
