    Hi,

Just a quick question. Does anyone know if you have two no claim bonus from two different companies. One being 4 years from 2007 to 2011 for a company car and the other 3 years from 2007 to 2010 from a personal car. Can you add these two no claims together there making a total of 7 years no claims or will the most ill be able to get is 4 years?

Maximum you can or will get is 4 years from the most recent one.

Don't think the company insurance policy NCB can be transferable to a private policy. Anyway your NCB is based on the duration of time without a claim, so you cannot double because you had both a company and private policy, so even if you could transfer one over to the other, it would be 4 years max, not 7. Also most insurance companies only give a maximum NCB discount upto 50% or 5 years.

    Short answer is definetely NO.

A company policy is not yours, even if you own the company. At best, your current/next insurer would see it as named driving experience.

Fact: If you have any number of years private NCB and you then have no private policy for 2 years, your NCB are gone. This includes driving on a named company policy. I checked, because I was once in that situation. Before the 2 years are closing in, you must take out a full 12 month policy to validate your own private NCB, or lose whatever you had.

It is however possible to have multiple private policies. They cannot be combined but they are racked up as separate NCB points. So if you had two policies running concurrently and you claimed on one policy, you would still have the NCB bonus from the other policy. Your NCB can be used on only one vehicle per policy, with the exception of you having private and commercial policies taken out. For example; you can have 3 years NCB on a private car policy (or 1,2,4,5 etc) and the effective NCB can be cloned onto a commercial policy for a van. If you claim for either vehicle, your NCB is gone for both.

The one area i am unsure of is classic insurance. But I think your NCB is effective if you add a classic vehicle to your existing policy.

Once the first no claims expires it ceases to exist

I think it depends on your relationship with your insurer.

I have company van (my company) and wife has the family car. I had this out with my rep. He offered to just switch the name on the no claims bonus cert.

( i do give him four grand a year in premiums)

What month did your insurance expire in 2010? If its over 2 years ago your 3 years ncb are gone, sorry to say but you could be starting from scratch again.

Your personal NCB once it hits 2 years is gone, and not comming back.

You will deffo be able to get the four years Company Named Driving though. Tell this to your insurer and you will have to provide them with a letter from your employers insurance company stating you have X number if years named on said policy.

For this to be valid, you have to be actually named on the Company policy. If it was a 'Fleet Insurance' then more than likely it was open drive meaning you weren't named...this is no good for getting NCB from.

Some insurers before they give you Company Named Driving credit will insist that you had sole use of the company car...., A letter from your employer stating same will do.

.....Another option, which might be much easier; during all this time driving your car and the company car, were you also named on a Partner/Spouses insurance? If so, just used that as named driving experience, much easier and less paperwork for you.
