so my ticket time was up at 3.30pm
i turn up at 3.39, find a ticket on my car timestamped 3.45
admittedly i was over the time.
but what of the 15 minute dicretionary period
also it seems the parking ticket guy had simply turned up round 3.35, forwarded the time to 3.45 on the ticket machine to make it look like discretion had been given, yet us turning up at 3.39 proves it was nt

    enraging :(

Where did this happen? And how did you know it was 3.39?

happened today. we checked our watches on seeing ticket. there were 2 of us in the car, one watch said 3.38, one 3.39. car clock said 3.39. we looked for parking guy. he was nowhere to be seen. long gone

Where? Have you checked your watches and the clock against a reliable time source since?

wicklow town. there is no way all 3 of our times, 2 watches, and one car clock, (3.38, 3.39 and 3.39) are all way off skew. well very little chance anyways. just curious if anyone has been done like this before, and if anything can be done. never come across something like this before

Is that not the time given to you to get change to get your ticket? Not to let you arrive back after your time is up.

As far as I know you get 10 mins grace before putting your ticket on the car but as soon as your time is up you are game ball!

You pay till 3.30pm so you only get till 3.30pm!

Who knows - you need to check. Do they give 15 minutes grace in Wicklow town?

I thought it was only 5 minutes grace time anyway? Either way its before getting the ticket anyway.

Dún Laoghaire, for example, give 15 minutes either side of the ticket, it's printed on all the ticket machines. I don't know about Wicklow town, though, if it's not signposted then you'd have to assume that there's no official grace period.

my real grievance here is the fact that i arrive back at 3.39, ticket is timestamped 3.45, parking guy is few minutes gone as nowhere to be seen, so most likely he was there round 3.35/3.36 or earlier and just jumped skipped around 10 minutes in time with the ticket produced. ethically it cant be correct. thats my main point.

You didn't check that the time on your watches/car clock was correct, and you still haven't told us what grace period is signposted. Under the circumstances, your assertion that the warden deliberately altered the time on his unit simply isn't credible IMO.

what are the off chance his machine/watch is telling him it is 3.45??

it is all relative, unless your watch is sync to the atomic clock.. in which case then I would say, yes he is wrong..

re "You didn't check that the time on your watches/car clock was correct"

4 times all at 3.38/3.39, how many clocks do i have to check? not labelling you stupid, just saying

"and you still haven't told us what grace period is signposted"

correct, not in area anymore, will need to check

"what are the off chance his machine/watch is telling him it is 3.45??"
good point, and possible, which means many tickets he has put out during the day are about 10 mins ahead of correct time

Surely first thing to do is see if you were wrong or he was wrong on the timings so check your watch against official source.

Only one, but one you know is correct.

That's central. If there's no grace period then the whole thing is academic.

Not sure about the discretionary period. Most phones time stamp pictures, if you'd taken a picture at 15:39 showing 15:45 you could have used that as proof. Now it's your word against there's if trying to appeal.

Sure you can set the time for the timestamp to whatever you want.
