10 inch tablet without the massive price tag but similar functionality?

Hi guys,

I'm sure your sick to death of these kind of threads but please humour me.

As technology changes rapidly as well I dont think theres much point in looking at older threads hence this new one.

Mods if its in the wrong place you can move it.

Basically I am looking for a 10" tablet. I dont want to pay for an Ipad.

I currently have an ipod touch which I use for web browsing at home but would like a big screen.

Mainly I will use this new tablet for web browsing and hopefully watching movies etc on the telly or on the tab so need HDMI connectivity.

Would like decent storage 16GB at least I suppose but am open to ideas on that.

Can you use Microsoft Office on tabs? Probably a silly question but that'd be useful.

So anyway I was looking at this one. I know its 8GB but you get the picture.

Ideally this will cost less than 200euro. I really dont want to spend more than that. If there is one for just over 200euro I'll look at it on its merits but am really looking for one under the 200euro mark otherwise I'd just but a laptop tbh.

So loads of examples/links/ideas please....

Not yet, there will be a version of MS Office for Windows on ARM (WoA) in the foreseeable future though.

Good luck with finding a 10 inch tablet w 16GB for €200. And if you want to watch movies on the big screen, keep in mind that the Creative tablet can't do full HD, for that you'd need something more powerful, like the Archos 101 which is closer to 300 yoyos. Or consider a decent 7" tablet, maybe the PlayBook.

You can get a ten inch tablet for 200 euro power city .por pcworld .8gig storage,add more storage using an sdcard 16gig 23 euro approx.
IF ms office is important maybe you, might be better off with a laptop ,netbook, 250 euro approx.
archos 101 has 7 - 8 hours battery life.
there are some 10 INCH, tablets with a flash client built in,
Check this if flash is important to you.

carphone warehouse ,had 1 ,200 ,euro,
not archos,or samsung,
it looked nice, nice ui.
I don,t think its possible to buy a tablet
around 200 euro that runs office.

Had my hands on one of these last week, dual core processor and quad core graphics card; Android 4, fantastic screen, very fast wireless, I have to say it's the best tablet I've seen, yes better than iPad2 (haven't seen version 3)

This one slightly cheaper, with sameish spec, but haven't seen it myself

189 sterling is like 250 euros at least in euros.
i would never buy a tablet from a website,
i buy from irish shops, get 2 years gaurantee.
its not like theres much difference in the price.

I would normally agree with you, however I haven't seen anything near the spec of the ones I've linked to available anywhere for that price or anywhere near that price.

To OP: would prefer more RAM, but that is very good value...

Interesting offer indeed. It's quite hard to find a review in English for this tablet, almost every hit refers to Polish websites, even this one seems to be a machine translated Polish language review. The verdict isn't too bad, considering the low price.

eltctrodirect.ie also have a promo video but I never really trust those.

Ya I found the reviews in Polish too. Seems like a good offer and would only be used for the internet really. The only part I was vary off was the wifi connection as I seen reviews of other cheap tablets the with some of them the major downfall was either the touch screen or that you had to be within 4 or 5 feet of the router to get a connection.

Look maybe at the google nexus 7... It's only a 7 inch tablet but it seems to be getting great reviews and only costs about 200.. It's out soon of not already and runs andriod 4.1

Is just my impression or some of the 10" tablets are actually 9:16 or even 8:16, so the size is 10", but usable are is much smaller than one could expect?

On top of that, looks like installing cyanogenmod9 on it should be easy - it means that it will get cm10/jelly bean as well.

I got an archos 101,199 euro, very happy with it, 7 to 8 hours battery life, mini hdmi out for tv connection, usb,
will connect to external hardrive.i get around 11meg/ per sec using wifi upc on it.
Very good screen,good for watching movies,or web browsing.
i would not even consider buying any tablet thats not reviewed on pcmag,cnet ,pcpro uk ,zdnet .
OR buying one that i cant see ,touch ,try in a shop.
YOU buy anything outside eu,you,ll pay stamp duty,
is your gaurantee worth the paper its printed on?
i dont want to get the latest android os, as it does,n,t support flash at all,
apart from the youtube app.

I just got a parcel with the tablet (not unpacked yet). I belive that the chances that I'll have to pay duty are now rather slim (zero?)

LibreOffice for android is on the way - I'm waiting for it as well.

The tablet (Sanei N10) is not equipped with GPS, but BlueNMEA [1] on a GPS equipped phone + BlueGPS [2] on the tablet do the job, so now I have OSMAnd on the tablet :-)
