    Hi Guys!
    :D

I have saorview on digital TV.
I have a Humax Box ordered for Freesat.

I wondered if it was possible to run the cable for the saorview through the Humax Box to allow recording of the saorview sations?

It would just be handy to use it for recording both the saorview and freesat.

    Thanks Guys :P:o:rolleyes:;):p:D

Not possible, different systems. PVRs for recording Saorview should appear in the next few months.

My tv guy is putting in a humax set top , twin feeds etc so it works likes the sky plus box....I was reading about postcodes etc , for it , is there would you know by any chance is there a way that you can watch the players , you know , the bbc /utv players on this box? Its just i see the option on the sat box that will be replaced by the humax , but i cannot enable it....i just wondered can you "fool" the box to thinking its in the uk! as they seem to have it working in the UK?

The ITV player works in Ireland through the Humax. As for BBC player, you can possibly use a proxy but I wouldn't really know how.

Thanks very much , grand to know that , just got rid of sky subscription is it's good to know that I can watch something if nothing on the tv! ESP , on a horrible wet day like this! Oh as I think of it I have the mobile dongle broadband , not a fixed house line , I wonder if you have one ( humax) is there a USB on it that I could probably connect dongle to , to provide on line , for the box for the itv player to work !?

    Many thanks again

Humax cannot record Saorview channels, but can with some modification to the software work for Saorsat. Satellite version of Saorview minus TV3 channels. This requires additional LNB and possible Dish/brackets.

Saorview box with recording would be far cheaper and have all channels

    Simple answer no.

Better solution, 3g router (takes your dongle or SIM card and shares internet connection).

Cheaper make shift solution Share internet connection from PC with a network switch or crossover cable and windows ICS.

Also remember Most 3G dongles have very small download caps. 10-15GB Itv player will eat this up quite quickly.

Three have a 60GB option available but may or may not have the speed required depending on where you live.

Are you sure the Itv Player works in Ireland on a Humax box ? When I try to get into it on my computer, it is geo blocked.

Just to confirm, connected my Humax to my broadband today and ITV Player working no problem. BBC iPlayer menu available, but won't play anything. Not that I'm complaining, but why isnt the ITV Player geo blocked on the Humax ( as I said earlier, it is on a PC/laptop ) like BBC Player is ? and more importantly is it an oversight on ITV's part, or is it they are not bothered ? Surely rights issues etc apply to ITV aswell as BBC ?

Plug in an ethernet cable from your router and it should work straightaway.

Sorry for posting here but thought it was easier than starting a new thread.

I recently cancelled Sky ( long story) and was reading about these Humax boxes. I have the standard Sky dish with 2 LNB feeds. Can I purchase one of these boxes and away i go with Freesat with recording etc.?

I presume this gives me the BBC/ITV/C4 and some free channels?

Yes, connect the sat feeds from the dish and away you go. A Freesat+ receiver will give you the following channels - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_channels_on_Freesat

thats exactly what I did. You just need an aerial for the saorview - irish digital. The way I have mine is I have the saorview on a tv
with a hard Drive connected , so you can record any programmes on the tv and the humax connected via HD cable , you can record
any program on it whilst watching another , same as sky plus , series link and all!

Be aware you can scan for Sky news , which I did , but it put my EPG all over the place. I dont know if you can keep the sky news
and return EPG to as it was (stations in order) , other than little snag for me , I am sorry I didnt get rid of subscription sky yeras ago..
    The HD is fab too

Ps I havent done it yet but i think you can get itv Player ...(I only have a dongle - not sure if i have enough allowance/or if its fast enough) have not
tried yet , but bbc player is not avavailable as its only for uk addresses and they can tell where u are by your IP address!

I have a VPN for the UK through the PC. Is there anywhere I can input the VPN through the HUMAX box to access the BBC iPlayer?

The www.manhattan-receivers.com allows you to add freesat and non-freesat channels to your favourites button. Supposedly making it easy to move between them.

My Dad is big into the news and this is most 'user-friendly' setup that I have found for him yet.

Anyone use one of these? Any good?

(I think they have a new HD pvr coming out later this year.)
