I'm of the opinion that I should be able to choose if I want to watch the drivel from our 'national' station.... I would gladly give it up tomorrow! I never watch RTE and I think their should be an 'opt out' button on UPC or SKY! I woul happily watch TV3- and actually wouldn't mind paying my tv licence money to them!

I think a lot of people would agree with you !

So they don't give you a choice.

What irks me the most is the outrageous salaries they pay their presenters in case they "go elsewhere".

Let them go off elsewhere if they want !!!!

It must be frustrating for people trying to break into tv or radio to see the same old faces getting overpaid for producing the same old drivel.

Sadly it a TV license, and not an RTE license, i wish Rte would just go away so we could waste our money on something different, but alas, tptb tell us to give give give

Someone would happily fund TV3..... They just rerun their shows under different names..... RTE look fairly professional in contrast. I do like Vincent though. :pac:

TV3 are awful to be honest. Between the tabloid-esk crime/topical shows, late night psychics, a poorly run news department (bar the wonderful vincent), UK re-runs and shoite like tallifornia it makes RTE look good. When was the last time a good home ground show came out of TV3?

With a very low budget on most shows they do I feel TV3 are doing a hell of a lot better in what the viewers actually want to see,,, I'm sure tv3 will stop playing re-runs when RTE stop RE-hiring the same old over paid faces on different shows!

I'm a big fan of shows like Ireland AM & Xpose, I also like Midday & I think they cater for a more 'modern' Ireland.....

It's just my opinion that I feel my €160 is wasted on a TV Licence when I never watch RTE.

Sadly our money, environment and vitality is being wasted in lots of ways by lots of people.

It's done in a passive aggressive way, I'd have more respect for them if they acted more upfront and just clearly stole the money.

That sounds like the kind of programme that TV3 would film: "Licenced to rob - caught on camera".

Modern? You mean the detritus of Post Celtic Tiger Ireland - the stiletto wearing mannequins usually found in the Saturday Indo and showbiz.ie?

I'm sorry but you lost me at preferring to watch TV3... Can't honestly remember the last programme I watched on it...

Their Autumn schedule will knock your socks off:

    - Gerald Kean's Marbella
    - Brian & Pippa's Krystal Nights
    - Ireland's Greatest Sex Offenders
    - Doggy Tummy Tucks with Alan Hughes

Normally shows with "greatest" in the title usually have a countdown. One wonders :l
