I'm doing SS and do very little to warm up. I jog on the tread mill for about 5 minutes and then start straight into the lifts. I do warm up sets for each lift.

Are there any mobility exercises that will help specifically for squats, deadlifts bench press and overhead press?

    thanks

    Loads of stuff on mobiltywod.com

For squats: kettle bell held with two hands to chest, sit into a full squat position, elbows pushing out knees, keeping back as straight as possible with head up. Hang out there as long as you can, hell even watch TV for a while. Great for hip mobilty and getting into below parallel squats.

If your lifting heavy stuff and what to continue doing so into your later years investing time in warming up and proper before and after stretching is must.

Interesting - I have quite poor hip mobility - especially evident in my squats, has anybody had any experience doing some thing like the video below?

It's quite a complicated movement. Easy to do with K* watching, but would guess that 80+% of people would f*ck it up and get no where on their own with it.

I really think simple drills like over/unders, the couch strength, side lunge, squat to stand, goblet squats etc are the way to go for hip mobility - very hard to mess them up.

Plus, you need to be sure it's not poor thoracic mobility that's causing you problems. It tends to present quite similarly to hip mobility issues.

Lotsa good stuff to try there, thanks Hanley.
