Ladies Racing continues at Corkagh Park, Clondalkin on Tuesday evening, hosted this week by Lakeside CC. Sign on by 6.30pm for 7pm start. The race series has proven very popular with new racers, while also providing some intense school-night racing for the battle-hardened :) Racers are grouped according to ability, and races last for ~35 mins.

Entry is EUR3 (EUR1 for U18) and a Cycling Ireland club or full racing licence is required (you can buy a 1-day Cycling Ireland racing licence for EUR10 on the night if you don't hold one already).

    Details are on www.facebook.com/CorkaghParkLadiesRacing

    See you there!

great stuff....was up there on Sunday for the first time at a coaching course. great circuit ideal..

a lot of the locals using it for jogging, rollerblading and riding the bikes which is great to see. Lets get more like this built around the country!!

I hope my club will be able to promote some races on it next year..

In conditions more suited to the Liffey Swim than bike racing, 18 brave ladies battled it out in this week's Corkagh Park series, hosted by Lakeside CC. The A group of six headed off first, to catch the B group of 12 who had ~ 1 lap advantage. The groups merged after about nine minutes, and cranked up the pace until the ~30 min mark, followed by the final 3 laps of racing, with a bunch sprint to finish off. No mean feat in the lashing rain! At the end of the evening, the standings were:

    Junior: Naoise Sheridan (Orwell)

    A race:
    1. Eve McCrystal (Garda CC)
    2. Caroline Conway (Usher IRC)
    3. Roisín Kennedy (ESB)

    B race:
    1. Catherine Downes (Orwell)
    2. Tania Finn (u/a)
    3. Sarah Pratt (Bray Wheelers)

Thanks to all our supporters and racers who turned out in such terrible conditions, and to the members of Lakeside CC who turned out in force to host a great night's racing!

Due to the popularity of the series, we're looking for help to extend it to the end of August. If anyone can help with hosting (marshaling, sign-on, lap-counts, prize giving) on one of the evenings, please send me a PM or email cpladiesracing at gmail dot com and I'll give you the details. Thanks :)

out of interest, how many laps are covered in the 30 mins and any idea what the total km distance would be in those 30 mins?

I think 1 lap takes between 1m38sec and 1m50 depending which group you start with.

We would roughly cover 17 laps in 30mins + 3 laps after that to complete the race.
    Men woult do more.
Ryan Mullen ( Junior TT specialist) holds the strava record of the track 1m18sec
