Hi guys i am thinking of buying one of the above cars. I know they are two totally different cars but they are the two that i have it boiled down too. The mazda is a 06, 1.8 petrol tourling sport and has 74000 miles and going for 5700 euros. The Kia is a 07, 1.4 petrol and has 62000 miles and is going for 6500 euros. Which do ye personally think is the better deal? The tax on the mazda is 592 euros a year while the tax on the kia is 336 euros and insurance is a bit more expensive on the mazda because i am 26 years old. I dont mind paying that bit extra on the tax and insurance but where i am a bit worried is on fuel consumption, would the mazda be hard on fuel compared to the kia? What MPG would i be looking at getting out of both cars? Any advice? Thanks

Does the KIA have the 7 year warranty? That's a definite plus.

Yes 18 months left on it. Big plus alright when compared to 4 months on the mazda.

The Mazda seems to be a bit on the expensive side imo. Here is a 2007 model for similar money:

Personally, I would prefer the extra comfort, space and refinement of the 6 as it is from the class above the Ceed.

Id agree with bazz, the mazda 6 surely is a better car then the c'eed, although the extra warranty would offer a little piece of mind.

I know id choose the mazda.

For around a little more money than the Ceed and with some bargaining you could get a new model 6. Newer design should be safer and more comfortable.

Mazda all the way . I have one and its been bulletproof in the 4 years i have it . Brake pads and a headlight bulb is all it needed in that time

Yea think im going to go ahead with the mazda. The mazda 6 in the 1.8 petrol would not be a gas guzzler would it?

I'm pretty sure the warranty can be changed over to the new buyer on the Kia's. It's what I was told in a Kia garage anyway.

    But yeah, check first!

The Touring Sport model was dropped in mid 2005 when the 6 got a facelift. It was replaced by the Sport. Executive would have replaced the Touring, all that it was missing over the Touring Sport/Sport was the sports suspension and eletric sunroof afaik. I would not pay the same money for a year older Touring Sport.

For me the facelifted model is nicer with a better finished interior, switchgear and soundproofing.

Yea the Tourling sport one i am looking at has the sunroof and cruse control in George corbett motors waterford. Might give donal byrne motors in cork a ring tomorrow. Thanks

The Executive will have cruise control too, just not the electric sunroof.

Just looked at the one in Waterford, it is actually the facelifted Sport model, still think it is expensive for a 6 year old example. I presume you have no trade-in so him only knocking €295 off the asking price for a straight deal is not a great deal imo when you consider there are plenty of 2007 models asking similar money.

Yea straight deal cash, 5700 is the best he will do. He said he has it priced too sell. I am going to have a ring around in the morning. That one you put up on the link down in cork looks like a good deal. I had a look around on carzone and cars online and it seems to be the best one out there within my price range.

Sure as you said the only difference in the Mazda Sport in Waterford and the Mazda Executive in Cork is the Executive does not have the sports suspension and the sunroof. Am i right in saying that?

I have an 04 1.8L petrol Mazda 6 and drive it mostly in Dublin. At the minute the on board computer says that it's averaging 13.6 litres / 100 miles which works out at about 33-34 MPG. But this is rarely if ever in peak traffic in Dublin.

I absolutely detest sitting in traffic for 2-3 times as long as is normally needed for a journey - so much so, that I will go to almost any length to avoid travelling through the city at 8-10am and 5-7pm and even recently bought... a motorbike. (Am I allowed say that here? :p)

So depending on when and where you're driving, ranging from mostly urban in heavy traffic or rural with lots of motorway miles, I'd think that you could expect from about 28MPG at worst up to about 36MPG at best. Not too bad but certainly lower than you'd get with the KIA.

Aside from the fuel economy, I've had it about 3½ and find it very comfortable and reliable.

But you also need to keep an eye on your oil and make sure it's topped up as they tend to burn through it relatively quickly.

And the only difference in spec between the Sport and the Executive is that the Sport has a sunroof and sports suspension? Thats it?

There are probably other small differences but those are the main differences.

Hi thanks once again for pointing out this Mazda for me. Took a spin down to fermoy for a view of the car and took it for a test drive. Mazda was in perfect condition and lovely to drive. Bought it for 5000 euro with a bit of bargaining.:)
