    Hi,

I have a 3 bar grundfos water pump installed and i have a concern because recently the pump has started to act up a little... after use, the pump switches of and then gives between 3 and 7 bursts and then stops.

Is this something i should be worried about as the pump is only in about 18 months and when i bought it i was told that it should last for years...

Looking forward to hearing anyone's views?

    Thanks in advance...

I could make a guess that it was not installed correctly as it sounds like its gathering air but i dont need to do that.

Grundfos has brilliant techanical support on issues like this would you be willing to call them?

You will need you model and serial number for them

Dont worry. Its most likely not... At the very most it prob just needs a new part but to be honest i really doubt it.

    Thanks Joey,

The advise given was that its probably an air blockage and i should run the hot and cold tap at each outlet for 30 seconds and try to flush out the blockage.

Also to make sure the water is not being heated over 60 degrees.

He said it was called "shunting".

Lets see how we get on...

Thats possible... But if it keeps on happening post a picture about how your pump is connected to the copper cylinder in the hot press

    When you say "...after use"
    More information is needed,
Does it happen when you flush the toilet only,
Does it happen after a shower only,
Does it happen on Hot or Cold or both,
(Turn shower valve fully to cold turn on and off and does it happen, same again for hot side.)
Are you getting equal pressure from both hot and cold sides.

    Hi K.Flyer,

It happens any time i use hot or cold water in the house (except the cold in the kitchen which is directly connected to the mains and does not go through the pump asides from this tap it happens on all the other taps, toilets and the shower.

After use the pump now 'spurts' up to 20 blasts after the tap, toilet or shower use has finished.

Any thoughts as this is doing my nut...

    Thanks...

Could be one of several things,
Because it happens on hot or cold I am inclined to think of the relay on the pcb is on its way out, which would be a simple pcb change.
Flow sensors could be giving trouble, but tbh both at the same time is rare
Sudden stopping of the water flow causing back pressure can cause this type of a problem as well, which is usually rectfied by fitting a non return valve on each of the outlet pipes on the vertical section nearest to the pump.
