I am asking this for someone who had an indoor ariel and an old TV from around 2003. Will he need a new indoor UHF ariel? i do not know if his current one is UHF or VHF. How do you tell if the indoor ariel is UHF?

Also how is the box connected to the TV. There is a box in Dunnes for 50 euro. What connector would be with that anyone know?Sorry cannot be more specific.

You need a scart lead if it's not included with the box. You can get one for 2 euro in the 2 euro shop.
Just follow the instructions and hook up to the indoor aerial and see if you are happy with the picture.

If he already has an indoor aerial, test it out before before buying anything new. Does he currently have TV3 with the indoor aerial?

All Saorview boxes are connected via scart or HDMI.

    OK

He does but he has to adjust it and when he does it loses RTE and TG4. He has to adjust it back for them. The TV3 picture is bad too

Ok thats handy to know. There is a scart connector in his TV but not a HDMI

In the video you linked there are radio stations shown as well. Is that digital radio over the TV and will it be on all saorview TV's?

Digital TV can be more susceptible to interference, picture break-up etc. especially with an indoor aerial. As I say try the indoor aerial when he upgrades to Saorview. An outdoor aerial is recommended for Saorview.

Yes, they are carried as part of the Saorview signal. Only the RTÉ radio channels are available, no commercial or local stations - http://www.saorview.ie/what-is-saorview/
