People on here generally will choose bibs, but personally I don't feel too strongly either way.

I've always preferred bib shorts, I found too often that non-bib could catch on the nose of my saddle and get (slightly, but enough to be uncomfortable) pulled down.

    Bibs sit better IMO.

I think as long as you are buying a very well fitting pair of shorts, you will have none of the above problems. It's much easier to answer nature's call with them. But I do see the point of bibs.

shorts take more effort to turn into a comedy wrestling outfit.

    +1 for bibs.

I just go in my boxers, enough natural padding on my sit bones to do me

Switched to bibs, would never go back. Sit better (especially if there's a belly), less adjusting after catching on the saddle, comedy wrestling outfit potential as sherlok said - bibs have it all.
Haven't noticed any significant impediment in the call of nature department.

If you're concerned about nature breaks you could always wear your bib straps over the top of your jersey ;)

Good alternative if you own lots of shorts and dont want to fork out for bibs is to buy a set of clip on braces. I think the main advantage of bibs/braces is that they keep the back of the shorts up nice and high and keeps your back area nice and warm..

    Bibs, much more comfortable.

Unless the shorts are really good and really cheap, I would almost always go with bibs.
