Going to Edinburgh with a few mates next month. Really for a session but maybe a bit of cheap sight seeing as well. Have a hostel booked.

We a a cultural group and a few of us like a bit of home brew. Any good pubs around where we could try some?

Where is the cheapest place to get a decent feed?

    Best club?

    Best pub?

Edinburgh is like a smaller more compact version of Dublin. There are so many different places to go it's unreal.

It's een a while since I lived there so no help on the specifics I'm afraid but the Royal Mile and Princes st. are obviously a must see.

Best Club - well that really does depend on what you're looking for and how much of the local 'culture' you want :)

Grassmarket and Rose Street for pubs.

It's a brilliant City, the closer you are to the castle, the more expensive it is. However some bars do drinks for £2, bottles in clubs are £2. Any club that is free to get into will be very expensive. George Street clubs are generally more upmarket and won't let you in if you are too casual, old town clubs are the opposite.

The fesitival is on in August so I imagine that prices go up (I know rent doubles). They say that the population of the city doubles in August and that 20,000 people can be on the Royale Mile.

Wetherspoons is of course always cheap for food and drink but it's still a Wetherspoons like.
