I've a few big clumps of furze that are too big for spot spraying. What's the best way to get rid of them?

If they're tall, chainsaw, chop'em up for firewood as they stand. But, after September 1st.

Machines make a lot of mess, wouldn't be for me but other folk use them.

Low furze I'd still spray with Grazon 90.

The 2 or 3 clumps of thinking of are up to 5ft tall. I was thinking of spraying them now and then cutting them up after a few weeks.

Johngalway - I've a track machine coming in near future, why not let him at them? Do you reckon it can cause spread?

Hang on I thought you said you had big clumps? Them are tiddlers :D

No reason not to let him near it if that's what ya want to do, I've seen it done and I think it's messy, that's why it's not for me. Can't see how it'd spread them. You'd knock them handy yourself with a chainsaw though, and could put the track machine to more productive use maybe. Either paint the stumps with round up, or wait for regrowth and use grazon 90 on them.
