Looking to buy some sanitary ware and taps except that I am bogged down with all the choice available.

Can somebody give recommendations on middle of the road half decent sanitary ware to buy? I have looked at shires/shanks but their ranges are limited but would like to get the same type of quality of ceramics as these.

Also on taps what is recommended? How are the likes of Bristan/Pegler/Hudson/Mayfair

Ideal standard are decent enough but it all depends how much you want to spend ,

One thing i would say is , if your system is not pumped or pressurised , make sure you get low pressure taps and ballvalves , a lot of modern / contemporary taps and cisterns are not really suitable for gravity systems , the supplier will be able to tell you which are and are not , same goes for the shower .

I use to say that you can make a cheap suite look good with decent taps.

The problem with buying a non branded suite is if you go back next year it might be gone so replacing the toilet might be a bitch.

Make sure it takes a standard t/seat even back to wall can come in a range that takes a standard back to wall range seat

I just put the galleria range from sonas in my downstairs toilet and everyone loves it.

    TBH each to there own.

If its a pressurised system you have the pick of the bunch just make sure you will be able to get replacement spindles or cartridges , pegler are a good brand with parts always available , or if your willing to spend a few quid , hansgrohe/grohe have a nice range

I was looking at the sonas range my self recently and they have some good stuff. I always try to steer people away from cheap stuff, it's cheap for a reason. I've come across waste outlets that are slightly oval as opposed to round leaving a poor seal on the multiwick. Overflow channels that allow water into the actual mold of the basin.

Bristan are good for taps and showers. They are good because they have budget taps all they way up to fancy expensive stuff and parts are easily got from there website.

As said... Pressurised your laughing but again be careful sometimes cheap taps actually rattle and squeek if they are low pressure on a high pressure system... The good thing is.. this is rare because cheap taps are usually high pressure.

Bristan is a massive tap range but to be honest Ultra and home of amber(which is distrubuted by RT Large is just as good)
