Lads, I'm heading from Limerick to Derry tonight and I need to make up my mind on what way to go.

    I've 3 options:

    1. Limerick - Galway - Sligo - Derry

Shortest by far but motorway only half way to Galway

    2. Limerick - Dublin - Belfast - Derry

Motorway all the way past Belfast of the way but longest.

    3. Limerick - Dublin - Newry - Cookstown - Derry

Motorway to Newry then direct across the North.

    Any opnions?

Go by Galway and Sligo. Dual carriageway/motorway as far as Gort, dual carriageway coming into Sligo (with a stupidly low 100 kph limit - as anyone who has driven the N4 coming into Sligo will tell you, that road should be motorway and have a limit of 120), and the road from Sligo to Ballyshannon isn't bad at all - especially between Bundoran and Ballyshannon it's a fine wide road with good overtaking opportunities.

Yea I think your right. I've done the sligo trip many a time but I'm pretty sure the road to Derry then is pretty bad.
