I am wondering is it illegal for me to use photos of work that I made while working for a company in the past on my facebook page? They are photos of shopfitting, counters etc. There was no contract of employment of any kind and I no longer do any work for that company.

I would like to use the photos of work that I made for that company on my facebook page. Just wondering whats the story as the company do not own the photos I took.

Also one of the jobs the client gave me permission to use the photographs on my facebook page when I asked him so is there anything to stop the company I used to work from from stopping me?

What makes you believe that the company do not own the photos you took? Were they taken on company time? Were they taken on instruction of the company or as part of your duties for the company? If they were, then the company may have claim to the copyright of those images, and you can not use them without the extressed permission of the company.

Ya they were taken on company time after I would have completed a project.

No they weren't taken on instruction of the company or as part of my duties for the company.

You can't get legal advice here and I am not qualified to give it, either.

If it was me, and I worked for a company and my contract of employment didn't have a clause to say that they own photos I take, then I will treat the photos as mine.
