A local lad here, who cuts hay every year, and is good at getting it - cut his yesterday. But we are getting desperate thundershowers yesterday & today. Not good for hay... It wouldn't surprise me if he put into silage bales.

I know someone mentioned the forecast was meant to be good - but I don't see that. Maybe its just down south, but the forecast to me seems to be more of the same unsettled, showery weather :(:(

There's a heatwave promised. Plenty time for hay yet!

Two day heatwave by the looks of it, looks like Sunday could be dodgy here and Monday is promised wet. Might get some shearing done

Think I am going to chance knocking a couple of acres this afternoon. I know its not great for Monday and Tuesday but they are forecasting it good for later in the week again next week. I Hope

At this stage two fields are completely lodged so I need to take a chance. I also need the aftergrass to finish off the lambs in the autumn.

Apart from a bit of drizzle and light rain on sunday night/monday morning, next week looks promising with temperatures over 25 degrees. Mowed 10 acres last night. Another 10 acres being knocked this morning. Will mow again on tuesday hopefully and that will be it until the first week in August when the last 10 acres will be fit to mow.
TODAY ... Cloudy with sunny intervals, more frequent in west and south, as a few light showers move across east Ulster and possibly a bit further west and south at times, amounts slight (1-3 mms) ... northwest breezes 10-20 mph and highs 16-18 C.

TONIGHT ... Clear intervals, cool with fog or mist patches in some valleys, calm winds ... lows 5-8 C.

SATURDAY ... Sunny intervals, bands of higher cloud will signify a warm front as highs reach 19-22 C (some low cloud, sea fog possible near outer south and west coasts, but could be sunny at most holiday resorts, low cloud mostly over the sea).

SUNDAY ... Increasing cloud, warm and muggy, some drizzle, low cloud or fog near south and west coasts, hazy sunshine at times further east. Lows about 10-12 C and highs 18-24 C with higher values inland east, northeast.

MONDAY ... Morning drizzle or light rain in parts of west and north, hazy sunshine returning after a dull start south and east, very warm and humid. Lows about 14-17 C and highs 19-25 C highest inland southeast.

TUESDAY ... Showers confined to north, some areas of low cloud and fog near south coast, hazy sunshine developing, highs near 25 C inland towards west as light winds become more southeasterly.

OUTLOOK ... The chances seem high now that a very warm spell or even a heat wave will develop during the week. The GFS model has a different solution with the early warmth fading to showers, but all other reliable models show a very warm southeast flow that brings temperatures well into the 20s, highest west-central with sea breezes east coast. Typical highs in this spell could reach 26-30 C west-central, 18-22 C south coast, 21-25 C east coast and Ulster. Anyone with travel plans should note that even higher temperatures are quite likely in southern England and France, 32-36 C not out of the question in the developing pattern.

Ready and waiting for the field to dry out enough to cut, might leave it till Wednesday to give it every chance, after that hay would be a bonus but I'd bale as silage if weather changes

Have a small bit up the road a neighbour has behind their house, have been cutting hay from them for years but have had to cut silage from it over the last few years from it. It's very handy to have a few square bales of hay around, really missed not having them recently epically if we need to isolate a cow from the herd. Cut it today so planning to give it 1 turn and bale middle of next week.

Yep mowed 2 meadows this evening also. One of them will take allot of sun to turn into hay. A very heavy crop was nearly going to quit mowing as my mower was hardly able for it. Anyway done now so just need the promised weather.

Doesn't seem as confident now that the real warm weather will come after Wednesday as predicted. Hope it does otherwise I will have to wrap it which doesn't suit

Lads don't be daft put away ye're haybobs until next year and bring out the wrapper instead. Any dry days forecast for the coming week will be cloudy not great hay making weather.
