With the retirement of the King who will get the armband. With Modric as good as gone I think that Bale will be the man to get the nod. Dawson would be an obvious choice but Iam not sure he will make AVBs starting 11.

Is there a difference between captain and club captain?

Or was scotty the capt last year as Ledley was so unlikely to be playing often?

Parker or Kaboul. Kaboul as reward for ever improving consistency and leadership. Parker needs no explaining.

The club captain is generally the playing captain too. Though, due to King's injuries, he maintained his captain duties off the pitch and was captain on the pitch when possible.

IMO, Parker will become club captain this coming season. Though I see Vertonghen taking over from him over time.

Parker, with Kaboul to step in when Parker isn't playing.

What abouot Parkers injury and sandro being generally better?

It's a hard one to call as AVB is going to favour his own characters! Centre-halfs or defensive midfielders are usually the pick of the team for the captaincy but Verts hasn't even played a game yet! :pac:

    Agreed.

Fun Fact: His fantastic 42 appearances, which resulted in a not-to-be-sniffed-at 3 goals, were all actually powered by a combination of the fan's tears and the motion of Juande Ramos' career turning in it's grave ;)

Parker for now, and Vert once he takes control of our back line.

Parker or Kaboul for me. Vertonghen will have enough on his mind settling in!

All the people calling for vert and he hasn't even played a league game yet - bit silly !!

Of course it will be parker

I think the logic is that Vert was the captain of Ajax and player of the year etc so he has the potential to be captain of Spurs long term. Saying that Caulker could too, or Sandro...

Parker short term of course but next season who knows...

I'd be shocked if AVB left Kaboul or Vert on the bench and I'd fear Dawson could get murdered playing a high line...

I like the fact that he recognises that it's as much a group decision, rather then just him picking someone.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with Kaboul as captain. He is not a natural leader and isn't intelligent enough as a centre back. He has all the physical attributes to be a great centre back, but throughout last season he needed an older head next to him giving him directions.

My fear was that, with Kaboul as captain, Vertonghen would feel he had to take commands from Kaboul - not the correct commands, thus leaving gaping holes in the back. My suspicions were confirmed in last night's match.

should we not run a poll?

by the sounds of things it will be parker, kaboul, or vertogen.
