    Hi,
I got a present of an Asus Transformer Pad TF300-T. (already getting used to being asked why didn't you get an iPad...)
Delighted, expect it's the version that doesn't have a sim card slot in the tablet.
So I have to use a micro SD card for my internet.
I also have a laptop, for which I use a dongle.

I would like to able to use the micro sd card on my laptop too. Can I get a sim card that I insert the micro SD card into? So that I can use the one internet account for both devices?
I phoned Meteor and they said they won't give me a micro SD card and sim card on the one account, or that I'd be charged double.

    thanks,
    Pa.

I am not sure if this helps but you can get a "Micro Sim Card to Standard Sim Card Adapter", which is basically a bit of card in the shape of a standard sim card with a hole in it for the micro sim to fit in.
A lot of the phone shops have them and just give them away, otherwise they can be bought very cheaply online, (eg here for less than €1 incl delivery)

If I'm reading you corectly, you can't do that. The mirco sd card slot is for storage only.
You can get a usb add on for that tablet you could then try use the dongle that way or set your laptop up as a wireless hotspot if you can do that ?

Not sure about other networks but when i got my o2 microsim it came in a normal sized sim thing in a credit card sized thing so it might be handy to just pick up a new sim pack and not register it

I'm fcuken very pis$ed over this. Why would they have a tablet that you can't insert a sim
Or micro sim into for internet connection?????

I got rid of landline and wireless Internet. So now I'll probably have to get it back? Or else pit a sim into the keyboard and use that for my connection?
Which defeats the purpose of having a tablet. Why sell two models of the Pad and one without micro sim or sim slot? And of course the store would only sell the 'useless' model.
    Rant over, for now.

Having reread your first post i have no idea what you're trying to do.

Where are you getting your current internet from?

I have a dongle so plug it into my laptop.
I could do this on my tablet keyboard but I want to be able to use the tablet without the keyboard.

So I went into Meteor and got a micro SIM, at home only realised that the version of the Pad I have doesn't take micro SIM, it's only wifi for internet connection.

    Ah ok.

You could get one of these: http://www.carphonewarehouse.ie/Product/Meteor-Hotshot-Mobile-WiFi/238354/5.5

Or possibly your tablet can take the dongle via an otg cable

Either the mobile wifi thing above, or get a broadband ad on and use tethering on your phone as your internet access gateway.

    Cheers for the replies.
I bought a hotspot from Meteor and (finally) got it working. Pad said wifi was connected but nothing was working for ages. Got it working eventually.

follow-on comment- I paid €79 for the hotspot. If I leave Meteor for broadband when my contract expires I have to buy a new hotspot from my new provider. This sucks big time...

This is possibly the most ungrateful thread I've ever read. Jesus, someone gives you a present of a 400-500 euro tablet and all you can do is complain? I hope whoever gave it to doesn't read this thread.

    The most ungrateful thread? Really?
    1. I stated that I was delighted with the present.
    2. I did have a rant and stated that it was a rant. My rant was aimed at why tablets are sold without being 3G enabled. I presumed that all tablets would have this and was shocked/angry to find out that they don't.
    3. "all you do is complain"? My only complaints were my rant and stating that one has to buy a new hotspot if one changes provider (fair complaint I think). Most of my activities were enquiring about getting a solution. And I thanked people for their helpful replies.

Tablets can be 3G and Wifi, ir wifi only. The ones with both are generally more expensive because they are more expensive to make. The wifi only models incur no costs to a service provider as they have no sim card.
