Hi lads i put up a post here a couple of weeks ago about buying a seat leon or a kia ceed but now my head has being turned by a mazda 3, 1.6 petrol, 2006 it has 81000 miles and is on sale for 4500 euro. I had a test drive and i was impressed it was a nippy enough car i taught. I was just wondering whats the MPG like on this car and any taughts on the car itself?

    Hatchback or saloon?

They are a nice car, depending on the spec can look very cheap on the inside.
But a nice car to drive and live with, servicing while can be expensive as Mazda parts have a tendency to be pricey.

Fuel will be alright you'll get around 600km a tank of petrol with mostly motorway driving.

    Standard Stereo is good.

Saloon. Yea it was very nice to drive but have to agree the inside looks a wee bit cheap but i could live with that. As long as it is not hard on petrol i would be happy, at the moment i am driving a ford focus 1.4 petrol and burns a hole in my pocket to keep fuel in it

I borrowed my mothers one a couple of years ago for a holiday in the UK. I can't remember the numbers now, but having come from a 1.6 Vectra, I found the 1.6 3 to be very thirsty. In comparison, I would get 700km out of 50 litres in the Vectra, so the 3 would of had to be a good bit worse.

Actually, the Vectra could be another option if you aren't too worried about having the best interior. You can get good value for an '06 and they have good reliability, which is often overlooked by there 'boring' image.

The 3 is an excellent car, and to be fair, no interior is as cheap as the new Leon interior!
The 3 is as nice to drive as a Focus, but with the benefit of the Mazda petrol engine. It's utterly reliable, just ask Lightening, they use them at Mondello and they're always trashed every day and nothing has gone wrong with any of them.

I have a Mazda 3 1.6 hatchback and I get 650 KM on a full tank, which is very close to my previous car, Ford Focus 1.4 Hatchback
