hi guys, i am looking for projector witch will be used mostly in room with 2 windows, so basically in daylight. I am giving up my 32 inch LCD TV and hope get similar picture , because i am not watching any live tv and not using cable tv neither, so i don't wont to pay TV licence costs for something i am not using whatsoever i am watching my Apple TV with XBMC so that source is only strictly internet, so that projector should be without any areal connection no freewiew etc , that will entitle me to not pay TV licence anymore. I don't wont spend to much money for today, because my wedding day will bee soon and all money will go there. Any suggestions on that guys? Would be happy to spend no more than 400 with screan...

"Every household, business or institution in Ireland with a television or equipment capable of receiving a television signal (using an aerial, satellite dish, cable or other means) must have a television licence"

"If the equipment capable of receiving a television signal (for example a television set or a personal computer) is held in a household (an apartment, flat or a house), then one television licence will cover multiple pieces of equipment."

There is no escaping it, in fact I read some time back they were going to call it a media license moving forward or something to that affect.

as eddie said no way to avoid the charge as it will soon be a media license.

Concerning projectors you need to decide on the lumens(brightness) of the projector you'll require, are the windows big? how much light comes into the room?

Currently a computer does not require you to have a tv license - unless it has a tv receiver card fitted. i.e. one which is capable of receiving a TV signal broadcast over the air.

However as the above posters have mentioned, this will soon change.

i just ask tv licence guy day before, and he said that's ok to have PC without receiver in it, monitor isn't concern as well. So i will ask them again about projector, but that's what they said to me so far.

You will probably need a 3000 minimum lumen projector for day light viewing. This figure really depends on the room position in the house with regards to direct sun light.

Do a search on youtube for peoples set up and it will give you an idea
