    Hi,
I have just been accepted onto a degree course in applied social studies in social care and am quite looking forward to it,however im in my forties and recently made unemployed. The OH would prefer me to try find a job as she is not working either and money is tight.I have two school going kids.
As none of my family have gone to college before i feel that if i can apply myself to the course i will hopefully encourage the kids to do likewise and improve thie job prospects.
Does anybody have any idea if this degree will lead to work as there is obivously no point doing it unless i can find a decent job afterwards.
Maybe someone who has recently finished the course could give me some advice with regards to job prospects in this area.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Can't you do both? Do a part time springboard degree/diploma and look for a job.

Or why not do the level 5 in social care in your local VEC college? There is a surplus of social care graduates out there, it is not what I would advise someone to get their degree in.
