Anyone tried applying for a short term (12 months) loan off the banks lately?
    What interest rates?

We are with AIB and things seem to be harder to get than other years, any comments?

Aib have money set aside for farming at 4.5%. I am trying to borrow and there is no real hassle. Everyone's situation is different, but maybe the longer term loan maybe of a better service to your needs. My bank manager also told me that targets are gone! The bank will be glad of your custom.

+1. AIB have 250 million, iirc, to loan to farmers at 4.5% and the rest of the 'pillar' banks have similar sums. I got a few bob for a spreader a while back and it took about 2 weeks but they already had the accounts and another 2 loans paid off the start of this year so little hassle involved. I got some sort of working capital loan with no fixed repayments (but i gave a timetable for payment) only interest charged to current a/c quarterly. Damned if i can remember what it was called:confused: but most of the AIB lads in the discussion group have this facility now, sort of a soft loan i suppose
