I want a radio in my car.

So, as the title would suggest, I only half have a stereo system in my car at the minute.

Basically I've got an old Blaupunkt head unit with a CD player and some after market speakers. Most of the time only the front passenger side works, the odd time one of the parcel shelve ones work, not sure which as I can never catch it in time. ()

So I'm thinking I'd like a new head unit and new speakers. I'm not looking for any MAD BASS so I've no need for a sub, I can tune sound equiptment well enough not to need it.
I want something I could plug my phone into so an AUX is a must, not bothered with anything better because, well... I'm not.

I've genuinely got no idea about how much this would all cost to buy and have fitted, so I guess that's why I'm asking here.
Could some one tell me how much I should spend for a decent but by no means top of the shelve set up? I like my music so I'm willing to spend a bit on it if needs be.
Would I be looking at €300 or €500? I've honestly got no idea.
    PLEASE HELP!

    Thanks ya,
    Cian. :)

You might get the stuff online and then have it all fitted..probably 400..300 sounds ambitious ..you want to get it wired properly...

Head unit(€100 at least for decent one)..speakers (€80 at a guess)..an amplifier for the speakers would ensure good sound without taking up too much space (€60 at a wild guess)..

Add in wires and fitting and I'd say your approaching €400 easily

Yeah, I was afraid of that.
Half of me is saying, "the car's not worth enough to spend that kind of money on" and the other half is telling me I can't live without a decent sound system.

I might have an expert check out the speakers, for all I know it could all be down to dodgy wiring, hopefully!

Get a decent headunit as you can bring that with you to your next car, have the wiring checked out and go from there.I wouldn't go crazy on spending money on your first car

Is it on the road yet?

It's road worthy but I'm short on money.
Had an interview today so hopefully that'll change!

This is all looking into the future if you know what I mean.
I've always said I couldn't have a car without a decent sound system so it'll be the first thing to be addressed after tax and insurance.

Pioneer head unit was about 50 quid
Speakers I got from a car that came in for breaking. Tweeters and main speakers (240w peak)
    2 subs were 80 quid. 800w peak
Amp was about 30 quid for a 4 sub output, 3200w bridged

Had a similar setup in a Seicento, minus the mid range speakers. Shook the whole car in traffic

If you can find any of my vids in the other thread, find my youtube page. I have a vid of that setup in the van in my channel. It shook the floor!!!

First thing as mentioned above is get the wiring checked out.
After that is sorted Get a fairly decent headunit and start from there

Halfords have half price stuff often enough, 100 would get a decent ish head unit when they're on offer. Easy to fit too and along with 4 speakers and fresh cable you'd easily manage it yourself.

Anything electrical and I run a mile I'm afraid.
    We just don't mix. :o

Can anyone recommend some one to look at the wiring in Dublin and a rough idea of what they'd charge for inspection?
