Why do you have to get a chain changed? What kind of engine is it?

Have you got any engine warning light on? Unless the noise is very loud then its an expensive enough to change if there are no other issues. Its the tensioners that normally give the trouble when the oil level has been allowed to drop regularly.

theres no warning light on but when i stop at traffic lights the clicking can be loud and very noticable but then other times it doesnt make a sound
