Rav4 questions

hi all. we just got a silver rav4 03 for the missus and she loves it to bits.

she'd like to get parking sensors on the jeep, as she is not 100% comfortable backing into tight spots yet.

ICE ranelagh have priced it at 350 euros colour coded fully fitted. im not sure we'll go there yet, i would welcome suggestions of places.

however when we bought it, the rear bumper was not aligned, and you could see the clips. at first, the dealer said he'd have it fixed, but in the end said it was too big a job for the price he was giving it to us. i wasnt happy, but at that point i couldnt argue.

i was wondering, is it worth repairing or replacing (now we are only talking the left and right rear bumper, i am correct in assuming its in 3 parts as they dont look like they join with the bumper that is in the middle under the spare wheel cover?

is it better to repair / replace and then to install the sensors?

repair vs replace - are they cheap in breaker's yards? anybody know any around that might have those, and also, if these are sold second hand, and usually at what price?again, if the above is correct, its just the left and right rear bumpers.

    Thanks for giving insight..

The Rav4 bumper is in three parts. The parts behind the rear wheel are fairly easy to remove if you're anyway handy with tools. The centre part under the spare wheel is trickier as there are a few push fit clips holding it on.

Ebay have colour coded kits if you can DIY fit the sensors. Here's an example.

Try partfinder.ie for the bumper bits, should be much cheaper than getting new parts and painting them.

thanks. had a look on partfinder, surprisingly not a lot of silver rav4's of the 2000-2004 vintage available (5 doors)!!

anyway, ill have a see whether i can drop into a panel beater and see if i need to get clips replaced as well or just the bumper will do.

any recommendations to a good one in south dublin?

i had a look on adverts, dave robinson now does parking sensors, which is brilliant, ive used him before and do like him when he did a car kit. might get a car kit done as well, the novero truly one, its not as expensive, and both would fit into the price of doing the parking sensors from ICE only!
